The Need for Business Mentors & Coaches for an Efficient Entrepreneur

Business mentors can help an entrepreneur to develop important business skills, provide access to a network of valuable business contacts and support in making important business decisions. Business mentoring is proven to be one of the most effective forms of support for business leaders. It is more than simply vague advice and encouragement.

While mentoring refers to a counselling process carried on to guide a support a person for his career development, business coaching is the process of training and supervising a person to better their performance. In an organization, various employee development programs are undertaken, so as to raise their level of performance. The relationship between the parties is considered as mentorship, which is a long-term informal one.

Mentoring is a career development initiative taken by the management, in which an experienced person guides and motivates a less experienced one, in gaining competencies for professional development. It is a human development activity and is all about general development and psychological well-being of a person. The main purpose behind mentoring is to provide pen and face to face communication between the mentor and mentee to help an employee to attain social and emotional maturity and effectiveness.

It provides encouragement, insight, and counselling to the protégé for the development of his career. A mentor fits the shoe when everybody needs a good reliable sounding board, second opinion, and sometimes just emotional support when the times get tough. To get the most out of a mentoring experience, it is important to choose a mentor who has a deep understanding of how business works.

Coaching and mentoring both plays a vital role in the human resource development of an organization. All individuals need supervision and support at various stages of their life – be it on performance and efficiency or career and effectiveness. At periodic intervals, coaching and mentoring should be provided to the staff of an organization which would benefit the employee as well as the entity too.
